What to do, what to do...?

My Dear Scrappy Friends, I need your help!  I received a wonderfully, exciting gift this weekend {thank you Mom&Dan} and I need some suggestions for what to do with it! ...So many ideas are running through my head, hmmm, well, let me show you just what I am raving about!
{my wonderful gift}
Pretty great, eh! Do I use it for storage in my scrappy room, alter it...somehow scrap it?? There are 9 drawers that would hold an index card {3.5 x 5}.
So put your thinking caps on...any thoughts, ideas, suggestions...any and all are welcome!
Can't wait to hear from you!

  1. Very jealous here! Gorgeous - I would just crackle that baby to death and and alcohol ink the hardware. Use vintage paper to line the drawers and add titles in a fancy/old time font.

    1. I am very lucky! Thank you, I am not too sure what I am going to do to the outside, but I am definitely going to line the drawers with paper {that means I will have to shop! - YES!} Thank you so much for your suggestions and taking the time to stop in! Jazz

  2. OMgosh...that is awesome! I would LOVE to have one of those great big library card catalogues for embellishments! The drawers would be perfect for so many other things too: adhesives, small punches, etc. I wouldn't alter it. It's too cool as is. JMO. But then again I don't know what your room looks like!

    1. Thank you Madeline! And I have to say, thank you for adding the Gosh to the 'OM'! I really appreciate that! I know, my mind is going 100 miles/minute thinking of all of the possibilities! I think it will become some sort of organizational piece! Thank you for taking the time to stop by! Jazz
      PS - Sometimes I don't know what my room looks like either, it's actually a little sad, I have a small, but nice scrappy room...but all of my supplies are in the livingroom...oh boy!

  5. That is an awesome gift/treat!!!! Hmmmm, how would I use it (because really, it BEGS to be used rather than shown).

    Maybe on my scrap desk with items I WANT to use but rarely use stored in it. Kind of a not-so-in-your-face-but-really-close reminder to use those items!

    Whatever you decide, have fun!!!

    1. Isn't it! I agree, it does have to be useful. I do like your idea, however my desk just isn't big enough, may some new {vintage} furniture is in my future...hmmm. I will {have fun} and will be posting a finished product...eventually! {hopefully}
      Thanks for leaving your ideas! Jazz

  7. I have similar to this but just a little bigger. I pondered for the longest time what to do with it. The previous owner made these little flat panels that fit in the bottoms of mine so they are more drawer like. I ended up storing my ink pads in there. Each drawer holds one color. So each drawer contains all of my ink pads, ink refills, copics, embossing powders etc in that color.

    1. Erica, I like that you sorted your stuff by colour...hmmm. {I do mine by product} I am going to remove the bar that runs along the bottom of each drawer, turning it into a 'flat' bottom. Storing all of those items in there would free up some desk drawer space! hmmm, you definitely have got me thinking! Thanks for stopping in! Jazz

  8. I would suggest making the drawers flat as well. It would work great for cards, scraps cut down to size, flowers, etc... Love Penny

    1. Thanks Penny! I am thinking about using {at least} one drawer for tags...I never have anywhere to put them. This is so exciting, thank you for your suggestions!

  9. wow that is so cool! I think I would put small embellies in containers in them or my small embossing folders. Lots of possibilities with this storage unit!

  10. Thank you everyone for your suggestions! You definitely have put my mind to work! This will be a GREAT summer project. I have decided on a couple of things, I will be changing the colour...whether it be sanded down and re-stained OR primed and painted! I am also going to remove the bar in the bottom of each drawer, which will make the drawers 'flat', I will also be lining them with paper {becuase then I get to buy some!}. I think that a couple of drawers will be dedicated to 'loose' alphas and numbers...I have a system for this already, but I hate it. Plus, I am hoping that it will get me using up what I already have! Thanks again, and I hope that you are all wonderful! Jazz

  11. OMG OMG OMG I am dying - how cool is that!!!!!!! And Erica, that's a great idea!! However, I would distress it and use it to store my ATCs. You could seperate according to theme or swap and they'd be safe. How fun to browse through them too! Congrats on your WONDERFUL gift!!! I am sure you will cherish it!!!
