Mondays Are For Mom

'Every Summer has a Story'
Nancy Parker
Here is my card for this week.
I made it for the challenge over at Mo's Digital Pencil - "Summer Vacation".
Even though I am not a "Catcher of Fish", I love this image by Mo.
It is great for any male gender cards & it colours up nice & easy - I have used it often.
I used my Copics {of course} to colour with; paper by My Mind's Eye; sentiment was a digital freebie; hook, line & sinker from Pop's {Jasmine's Grandfather}tackle box.

Thanks for looking,
Ma

Now I know my A,B,C's

they are by far my favourite chipboard alphabet.
I tend to give them my own stamp of style and have
had quite a few people ask how I do it...
Well, let me tell you.

The Thickers I use the most are Jewelry Box- Chestnut
{pictured here}
I pick out my title and then sand off the top coating
{lightly} with my emery board.
I tend to leave some of the original colour
{in this case Chestnut} to give it a bit of a distressed look.
Next I pick out an ink pad that will match/compliment my layout.
Then press each letter against the ink pad, making the letter the desired colour.
It is best if you set them onto a piece of junk cardboard.
I used {and often will} a light & dark colour for this title.
{Tim Holtz- Mustard Seed&Scattered Straw}
Then give the letters a spray with a matching colour of glimmer mist.
{I make my own, you can check out how HERE}
You do NOT have to wait for the ink to dry before you spray them.
The colour will change before your eyes...and then you're done!

{A Few Samples}
'High Tea 4 Me!'
'April Showers'
{Life's A Beach}
*this title has not been inked, just sanded*
One thing I will mention if you are working with Thickers,
is that the sticker back tends to come off
during this process, I find this a bonus as I can position the title
around my layout, without them sticking down,
until I find the perfect spot.
I find that a glue pen is best & easiest to stick them down.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Great Days!

It's Tea Time!

'High Tea 4 Me!'
My niece and nephews LOVE having a tea party. They'll get dressed up, break out
Aunt Jazzie's {my} collection of yellow teacups and beg for the kettle to be boiled.
They act as old friends and are perfectly content for about an hour...making memories that will last a lifetime.

Mondays Are For Mom

'Happy Birthday' Nancy Parker
Well I have to say, 'Thank Goodness for my Ma!' If it wasn't for her I would have nothing to post. {ugh}

Anyway, this card was made for this weeks challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil
The rules stated that you could only use Black&White with a 'splash' of colour.
The image is one of Mo's fantastic digitals, coloured with Copic Markers.
The dot background is fabric adhered to cardstock...the rest of the papers are from the infamous 'stash box'.
The cute flower is homemade and the tag sentiment is a freebie, found on-line.

Hope you like it!
Ma & Jazz

{PS- Fingers crossed that I might actually get a layout done for the monthly sketch at
My Mind's Eye...maybe. Wish me luck and a BURST of creativity!}
Thanks Jazz.

Ughhhh!

Try as I might, I cannot scrapbook.
It seems as though I haven't a creative bone in my body.
You know, it is extremely frustrating.  I pick a picture, I sit down,
I don't get any further.
I could scream.
It has been going on for about a month.
I've been poking around other's blogs, trying to get a push, but no...nothing.
I've tried sketches, contests, EVERYTHING.
So, in the end, I am sorry for the lack of posting, know that I am trying- too hard.
If any of you have any secrets, tips, or tricks for how to get out of a funk, please share.
Thanks for your patience.
Jazz.

{Little} Pieces of Love

I find Family Recipes fascinating.
These small pieces of ingredient-stained paper,
that have long out-lived their creator.
They have been lovingly prepared for family dinners, potlucks and parties,
but their secrets never shared.
  When I started this project a few years ago I started out by asking
my Grandparents, Parents, and Great Aunts for Family Recipes.
I was amazed at their eagerness to share, as if they
had been waiting for years to pass these secrets along.
Proudly showing me wooden boxes, tightly packed
with hand-written note cards, with titles like
'Great-Grandma's Carrot Cake' or 'Aunt Jo's Baked Beans' scrolled across the top.  They would clutch their favourites, close and tight, while telling me stories
of making these recipes with their parents or grand-parents.
Everyone had it's own story, each one special.
Then they would hand them to me, letting me copy them
word for word, but not before making me promise to keep them in the family.
I felt, not only honoured, but privileged, knowing that I had been trusted with these special bits of paper.
I am not sure why I started scrapping each card, maybe I wanted to leave my mark, maybe I felt that they deserved more than just plain paper.  Whatever the reason, it has been a project that will probably last my lifetime, well, at least until I decide it is time to pass them along.

{My niece has already claimed them, telling me at the age of six 'Aunt Jazzie, when you die, I want these.'}

A Picture Worth Framing

This picture, of my oldest nephew, Braden, was taken
a couple of years ago at Easter. He is so adorable...
which often works to his advantage.
I did this layout to fit in an {empty} frame I had sitting on my desk.
I must have put 40 plus pictures in it, but no matter how beautiful the picture, something was always missing...so I scrapped it, which makes everything better.

{I apologize for not posting a picture of the layout in the frame,
but I couldn't remove the glass. {And no matter how hard I would try,
couldn't get a good picture without a horrible glare.}

Great Days,
Jasmine

A {Little} R&R

Evey year my Sister and I take her children up to the cottage for a vacation.
{Poor Sassie is being left with Grandma {Ma} for the time being...sniffle}
This year we have decided to take the scenic route, which means taking
what is normally a two hour drive and turning it into a five hour 'adventure'.
I am sure that the time will be filled with scrapbooking moments that I will hopefully
 remember to catch on film...hopefully.
I never take any scrapbooking with me, for this trip {there is just no time},
and I was not organized enough to schedule posts...so, I'm taking a {little} more than a week
off from the blogging world.
To my fellow Canadians, HAPPY CANADA DAY!
And to my American Friends and Family, HAPPY 4th OF JULY!
Best wishes for Great Days to all,

Jasmine
