A Recipe for Disaster...

A while ago I posted some Family Recipes that I had scrapped (see picture).  I love my recipes, but time, sadly, had gotten away from me and I now have a pile of papers that I have chicken scratched recipes on. So, I have decided that it is time to spend some time on this project!  My fingers have been busy typing my rather large collection and, guess what!, I can see some process being made.
{Current Recipe Cards}
 So hopefully, very soon, I will have a completed project to show you!

Happy Birthday to My Dear Ma!

Happy Birthday to the world's most wonderful Ma! {Nancy Parker} For her birthday this year Season {my sister} and I are taking her overnight to ScrapFest, in Kitchener, Ontario! She will be thrilled {she finds out today!} I made her card and wanted it to resemble a suitcase, so she would know to 'pack her bags'. I have been feeling a little 'under the weather', so I googled 'suitcase cards' and you wouldn't believe the amount of amazing pieces of art that flashed across my screen, but I found one I LOVED and here is my crack at it!
'Pack Your Bags'
{my card}
My card has been made from a file folder, which, using my blending tool, I distress inked with Walnut Stain.  The pearls came from the {new} dollarstore, the twine from my garden supplies and I used stamps for some embellishment.  The card I scraplifted {almost exactly...sorry, like I said, feeling {more than a little} under the weather}, Suitcase Card by mummagina , is amazing!  {I tried to post a picture here, but couldn't get it too work, and unfortunately, I couldn't find any contact information}.  So, Mummagina, if you happen across this post, a BIG THANK YOU for your inspiring work.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday!
If you so feel moved, please stop by My Ma's Place and leave her some BIRTHDAY LOVE!
{my Mom & Zachie!}
Happy Days, All!

It Pays to be a {little} Snap-Happy!

'Too Darn Cute'
These pictures were taken last September...at a small 'photoshoot' with my niece and nephews.  They wanted to have a tea party. Now I tend to get a little 'snap-happy' when a camera is put in my hands, and you know, I think you get some of the most amazing shots this way.  I came across these photos when I was weeding out the 'good' from the 'bad' from this day.  How cute is Zachie, checking out the whipped cream on his fingers from the little treats they had...and then giving them a lick!

A {Little} Thanks!

'You're the Bees Knees'
a Thank-You Card
This card is being sent to a very thoughtful and special lady, whom I refer to as Tante {Aunt} Wil.  Tante Wil volunteers at a local Thrift Store, which received a rather large donation of teapots.  She heard that I collected yellow teapots and cups, saw a lovely teapot that she thought I might appreciate {which I do} and bought it for me, how sweet of her. Thank you, Tante Wil!

O Happy Day!

'Happy Day'
{side shot}
This layout is of my sister and youngest nephew just fooling around one summer day.  Now, I have scrapped these pictures before {pictured below}, but have never really been happy with the {original} outcome.  I LOVE the pictures...in fact, there are a few more to this 'shoot' that I plan on {re}scrapping when I get a minute.  I have to say that scrapping a 'Summer layout' in the middle of Winter really, REALLY makes you miss those warm, sun-filled days...come on Summer!

Orange Embossed Cardstock - Bazzill
Red, Green & Orange Cardstock - Bazzill

Celebrate Good Times!

'Celebrate'

One of my New Year Scrappy Resolutions was to MAKE all of the cards I need...bad idea.  I have a WHACK of birthdays coming up, so I have busy, busy, busy. {but I am NOT giving up!}  I can't go on enough about Simple Stories, but it really seems to have cured my lack of ability to create a card...they practically make themselves.

Alphabet - Thickers {black} 'transformed' HERE
Distress Inks - Tim Holtz
Distress Dot Stamp - Unity Stamps
Orange Cardstock - Bazzill

Carded!

I have started to really enjoy making cards, which is a HUGE feat, if you look back a year ago...when card-making was 'just not my thing'.  I think I should credit the change to Simple Stories fantastic paper lines, they practically scrap themselves.
'You Are Loved'
{flat}
{inside}
This card was made using Simple Stories Baby Steps line, such an adorable line!  The {two} hearts have been cut from my Big Shot using the Tim Holtz Movers&Shakers Hearts die. {covered with Baby Steps paper} I have stamped the 'background' cardstock with Unity Stamps Distressed Dots stamp and also have folder embossed it with some 'small dots'.  The inside 'decorative shapes' have been cut with the Tim Holtz Movers&Shakers Magnetic die {I printed the sentiments off my computer first}.  The adorable stroller is another Unity Stamp {an itty bitty}.

I hope your day is wonderfully creative!

Busy, Busy, Busy

There is always something.  Shannon, one of my best friends, is getting married this coming October! And, since she is not a 'planner', has given me the wonderful task {and I am NOT being sarcastic} of planning her Wedding! I LOVE planning a party...or anything actually that requires a list. So, I have been busy working on a few items to be used at the wedding, right now it has been {100} tiny envelopes...tracing, {hand-cutting}, scoring, folding, taping...and tying into bundles of ten.  These envelopes will be at the 'sign-in table' and will act as the Guest Book.  Wedding Guests will write words of wisdom, advice or love on small tags, which will then be placed inside the envelopes {mounted in a beautiful book}.
-Book-
{ordered from MoonScape on Etsy}
The tags {which are not pictured} are being cut from the Cricut.  {So far that is working out well... I am starting to like our Cricut...thank goodness!}  I am also cutting 'blurb' tags, these will be mounted in the book, along with a picture of the people who have written the comment.  {Grandparents, Parents, Siblings, etc...}  The number two, pictured above, is what the table numbers are going to look like.  They were quite simple to make, some paper, a frame from the dollar store, a house number and a little paint!

So far, so good...I think.  Plus, I get to make 'extra trips' to The Paper Pickle for supplies!

Have a GREAT Day!

"Winner, Winner" AND 'Then Sings My Soul' Hymn Challenge!

Well, the time has come to announce the WINNER of my {on-going}, but now finished GIVEAWAY!  And the {lucky} WINNER is... {reaching into a large bowl full of 'ballets'}:
#27 Danielle Higginbottom-Brown!
Congratulations Danielle and thank you to all for participating!

Now for a {little} project...
"How Great Thou Art"
{one more shot}
This is my 'layout' for the {bi}weekly Hymn&Scripture Challenge over at Triple the Scraps {HSCRC12}.  I have to say that I had a hard time coming up with an idea for this {powerful} hymn.  The words stand quite well on their own...so that is what I did, let the {hymns} words speak for themselves.  I was inspired by Patter's colour choice and just rolled with it.  I have added a quote from the song 'How Great Is Our God' by Chris Tomlin,  I LOVE relating the older hymns to new songs! The scripture I have chosen is a paraphrase of Genesis 1:24-31, which is, "And God said...and it was so". {Enough said...}

Thanks for stopping in!
Jazz.
