Inspired by...

1Mad Scientist
{a layout of my fun, sweet & handsome nephew, Zood!}
This layout has been inspired by Keepkwill's layout 'The King of Swing', over at Scrapbook.com...it is beyond fantastic! I belong to a few {online} galleries, each FULL of inspiring pieces, and am constantly in awe of others work.  I decided that, from time to time, I would create a layout based on some of these different works of art.
{detail shot}
Oh how I LOVE using non-scrappy items in my layouts, including this {itty-bitty} light bulb, a 'ruler' from my Vintage Typewriter and 1 spring, 2 rusted washers, a few loose screws, 2 wing nuts and some other 'odds&ends' from the garage!
{detail shot}
E=mc2 ...and my adorable nephew!

1Mad Scientist - A mish mash of THICKERS!
A {Little} about this layout:
On this day {journaling} We decided to have a science fair at home... you, Bellie, Buck-o, Mamma & Me.  We experimented with all different concoctions.  Although they were neat - you were more fascinated with you glasses...so adorable - xx

Thank you SO MUCH, Keeperkwill for your inspiration!
Great Days All!

Hymn&Scripture Challenge {HSCRC12}

'Christ Arose'
The latest hymn over at Triple the Scraps is Low In The Grave He Lay, a Great Easter {or anytime} Hymn.  I had gone back and forth for a while on just exactly how I wanted to scrap this piece...then I went to Scrapfest and came across this wonderful Authentique Line, I just knew it would work {all patterned papers}!  The plain {but now embossed with large dots...and sanded} Cardstock is Core'dinations Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection {Tim Holtz}...these are really beautiful colours, they have a real vintage feel.  I also used MY NEW SCRAPPY TOY to journal the words of the hymn.
{Tag#1}
For the tag I typed out some lyrics from In Christ Alone :
"Then bursting forth in Glorious Day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in Victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His & He is mine,
Bought with the Precious Blood of Christ"
I added a piece of burlap {from my garden supplies...in the garage}, sanded a few edges and added an adorable Prima heart rhinestone {Say it in Crystals}.
{Tag#2}
The scripture verse I decided to go with comes from Hebrews 9:28...or some form of it.
"Christ was sacrificed to take away sins; He will appear a second time to bring Salvation"
This backer tag was a freebie from Scrapfest, I sanded it down, added an adorable {canvas} tag {by Maya Road} and another {Prima} Rhinestone.

Hope your days are GREAT!

Look At What I Got!

This was a GREAT weekend!  Fun was had by all at Scrapfest in Kitchener!  I did a little...okay maybe more than a little, scrappy shopping! I want to show you one of the items I bought; The Dymo Caption Maker {$22 Canadian}
While I was waiting to pay for my purhases at a {wonderful} booth, a lady was demonstrating just exactly how this neat, {little} gadget works! Okay, you insert a font tray {round circles with the blue on it - you get 3 different fonts}, then insert the provided {black} 3/8" tape {OR you can cut a 3/8" strip of {amazing} Core'dinations Cardstock and use that}...then you simply turn the wheel to spell out what you'd like to say and squeeze the trigger!
So here is how it looks at first, if you use the cardstock:
Then you sand it to reveal the Core colour:
I was SOLD! This is a handy tool for someone who loves to distress everything {like moi!}, so it quickly found it's way into my purchase pile! Now if you decided to use plain cardstock, then you would simply ink the embossed letters!
{font#2}
{font#3 - done on provided black tape}
 Now I will admit that I thought I was going to experience some buyer's remorse...but I haven't! You do have to get a feel for the 'amount of squeeze' to give the trigger...but you quickly get a feel for that.  Hopefully tomorrow I will have finished {and posted} the project I am working on using my new toy!

Great Days my Scrappy Friends!

Springing into Spring!

'Spring has Sprung'
Okay, if I am being honest this started out as an 'explosion card', then I became frustrated...set it to the side for a while, and then cut it up {meaning to 'dispose of it'}, decided it looked {somewhat} like a quilt and {finally} made this 'easal card' out of it. What can I say...everything I do is a process.
{flower}
I cut this flower using the Cricut {very slowly, the Cricut and I are becoming friends}, then I mounted it on an old spring, so when the card is sitting up the flower 'bobbles' around {I wish I had a better picture for you}.  I punched a small hole through the back paper {purple polka dots} and attached the other end of the spring to the card using a brad. The butterfly has been cut on MME's paper using the Tim Holtz Movers&Shakers die and attached {crazy glued} to a spring.
{base}
The bottom simply has another rescued piece from the {frustrating} explosion card, as well as, another butterfly. For the butterflies {or most any other symmetrical shape - heart, circle, and so on} you simply cut out three from the same paper and score each in half, fold each one in half a little more then the other and glue {in the center} together.

I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC weekend, I know I will! My Mom, Sister, Niece and I are heading to Kitchener for SCRAPFEST! Maybe we'll see you there?

Great Days,
Jazz

Hook, Line & Sinker!

'Happy Birthday'
I made this card for my Wednesday post over at Just Imagine Crafts/Kreaxions Punches! I used Kreaxions Punch #607, as well as, THE WORLD'S MOST AMAZING {and easy} CIRCLE CUTTER!
{sentiment}
I found this sentiment on-line {except it said 'to a reel great son'}!
{detail}
The adorable image is from Mo's Digital Pencil, the paper from My Mind's Eye and the 'fishing gear' from my Pop's tackle box!

Hope your Days are Great!

One Heck of a Deal!

Ok, I have to tell you...I received the most wonderful phone call from my Ma the other day. There was a Scrappy Crop going on at her work and a vendor was selling Tim Holtz Distress Inks for $2 a pad...that is NOT a type-o, TWO DOLLARS! So, I quickly phoned Dan {my step-dad}, who was still at work, and asked him to pick up some inks I was still looking for! I ended up getting this whole pile of inks for $20 {so excited!}. I think I am only missing two or three inks and then I have the whole set...well, until Mr. Holtz {Ranger Inc.} brings out new colours!

Oh how I LOVE good deals on items I use!
Great Days,
Jazz

Happy 26th Anniversary!

'I love you...'
Happy Anniversary wishes to my Ma&Dan! ...yesterday! Okay, so I am one day late on this post, but I have good reason...this card is for my Ma, FROM Dan.  So you see, I couldn't very well post it before she received it, that just wouldn't be right.
{a different side}
All of the paper {with the exception of the Kraft Paper I used as 'backer'} is Simple Stories - Generation.  Every time I use Simple Stories product I fall more in love...the stuff practically puts itself together...I seriously think I am only around to apply the tape, I think this card {maybe} took a half hour, start to finish {which, when it comes to my card-making capabilities, is unheard of!}
The card simply says 'I love you then&now...forever'.
Best wishes to all for a Great Day!

What to do, what to do...?

My Dear Scrappy Friends, I need your help!  I received a wonderfully, exciting gift this weekend {thank you Mom&Dan} and I need some suggestions for what to do with it! ...So many ideas are running through my head, hmmm, well, let me show you just what I am raving about!
{my wonderful gift}
Pretty great, eh! Do I use it for storage in my scrappy room, alter it...somehow scrap it?? There are 9 drawers that would hold an index card {3.5 x 5}.
So put your thinking caps on...any thoughts, ideas, suggestions...any and all are welcome!
Can't wait to hear from you!
