Yardsale Summary Sundays

Yardsale season is officially upon us in Southwestern Ontario...yeah!
My Ma, Sister, Niece & I headed out yesterday
at what seemed like the 'crack of dawn'.
(8am comes VERY EARLY to a person who doesn't sleep)

I am most content when rummaging through other's 'junk'.
So, on Sundays I am going to blog{brag}of all the
wonderful scrapbooking finds I scooped up.

Here we go.
Two wooden knick-knack shelves{not very old}...
thought they would make a couple of nice Altered Trinket Shelves.
$4/2 {including dust}
Fiskars' rotary cutter {YEAH ME!!} This cuts like butter. $3
14 wooden letter/number blocks {for Altered Trinket Shelves} .25cents
Vintage Playing Cards .10cents
Stampin' Up Wood Block Stamps
French Script {note price tag $24.95} $5
Set of 4 Patterns $5
Total $17.35
All in all, not a bad morning...
worth getting out early and digging through 'one man's trash'.
Happy Treasure Hunting

Tag...You're It!

This is the FIRST tag I have ever made...and it will not be the last.
I have never made them because I associate them with cards...
and I am a HORRIBLE {possibly the worst} card maker.
I LOVE the look of other's cards, but it's not happening for me.
For example, this was suppose to be a card for the
My Mind's Eye Blog Challenge#23
Didn't happen...like always, I got frustrated and mad,
which is where my card making experiences always end up.
I would like to think that one day I will conquer the card,
but until then...I {now} have tags!

Thanks for the look.
Great days- Jasmine

How Do You Measure Up?

Yesterday, my Ma hands me a garbage bag.
You know the saying 'one {wo}man's trash is another {wo}man's treasure...',
Well, inside that bag was a whack of old measuring tape.
(and I do mean a whack, a few at 165'each)
I had just bought one which I used on my
Altered Tray of Curiosities and loved the look.
So, to celebrate my good fortune, I am offering 1 length each (9') to the
first 5 people who leave a comment on this post.
{you must already be a member...or join, we like new people}

Is it sad that a bag of 'garbage' can get me so excited?
Thanks Ma!
Jasmine

ALSO:
Good-luck Alanna&Braden at Track & Field, I hope the rain holds
off and that Sassie and I will be there to watch you!
I know you will both do GREAT!

A {Little} Project & A BIG Winner!

Today is Monday, and as promised I will be announcing the winner of the
{Mini} Book Ends Giveaway...but, I'm going to make you wait until the end of today's post.

I am posting an Altered Tray that constructed last week.
(Mondays are for Mom is being pushed until Tuesday for this week.- Sorry Ma.)
I sanded an old, wooden tray that I found in my Grandma's house.

Then painted it in a high gloss black.
(I did sand it again after this, to distress it, but forgot to take a picture)
Then, the fun part...finding all the trinkets and treasures to fill it with.
A snip of my Granny McNaughton's lilac tree,my favourite. (the first tree I ever loved.)

A Skeleton Key from our farmhouse, a bottle of sand from my favourite place and

a desert rose & piece of petrified wood from my Grandma Burton.

September 1981- the month & year I was born...and my Sassafras Lass (puppy).
Finished Product...
I LOVED doing this and highly recommend it!
I have already started shopping for a new {vintage} tray!

Now, onto the GIVEAWAY WINNER!!!
Congrats to LEIGH, who said:
"What a great mini and a great lesson for your nephews and niece to learn
about money and giving to those in need.
I would make a mini on our crazy, unexpected house renovations!"

so I can get your shipping information.

"Revamped"

I was on a scrapbook site forum this weekend and the topic
"Do you love every layout you do?" caught my attention.
The answers were varied, some did, some didn't,
some just want to get them done.
Me? Well, if I don't, I tweak it until I do...or I take it all apart and start again.
I even go as far as 'altering' past layouts I loved...
Here are a few that have been 'redone' after years of being finished.
(unfortunately, I have no 'before' pictures)
I wish I could just let what's done, be...but that is just not me.
So, how about you...where do you fall?
Do you love every layout you do?

Hope to hear from you.
Jasmine

And don't forget, you only have a couple more days to enter my first GIVEAWAY.

Scrapbook Challenges *Thank-You Pamela* Blog Hop

I have decided to 'Hop On' the Blog Hop at Scrapbook Challenges
The sketch I decided use is Sketch #47

I just LOVE the simplicity of this sketch.
(GREAT SKETCH,PAMELA!)

And here is my take...
'Sisters'
The subjects of this layout are my older, and only, sister, Season and myself.
"There is no better friend than a sister, and there is no better sister than you."
{Journaling}'Season & I have been sisters my entire life.  I never recall being anywhere without her as a child.  As teenagers, well let's just say, I'm surprised we made it out alive.  Nowadays we see each other every day, we get along...or is it just all the free baby-sitting?'

Check out the rest of the blog hop, starting with Brynn's Blog.

The Next Chapter

Pages five and six turned out to be very trying.
It took a while, but in the end, I don't mind the finished result.

Okay...The pictures on these pages are from one of our local newspapers.
{They ended up being in a few papers however,
I have no idea where the other articles went.}
Alanna came running in the house, yelling
'The paper is here, they want to take our picture...we're famous now!!'
We're all very proud of our 'Little Lemonade Girls'.

So tomorrow is the last day of my 'Mini Adventure'. {thank goodness}
I will be taking a break from the colours GREEN & YELLOW for quite sometime.

I am so very excited for tomorrow, not only because this will all be over,
but...
I AM GOING TO DO MY FIRST GIVEAWAY!
{see all CAPS- I'm excited}

So be sure to stop by tomorrow for all the details...
and to check out what's up for grabs.

Jasmine.

Please Turn To

 ...pages three and four.
Today I have started a love/hate relationship with my mini.
My normal scrapbooking pages tend to be 'nicely cluttered'
(as my sister would say).
I'll admit, I try to jam a lot onto one page,
and with these small pages that has become no easy task.

So far,I am happy with what I've completed,
hopefully I will feel the same come the end of the week.

Thanks for the look.
Jazz.

And We're Off!

...and on to page one (and two) of my First Mini Album.

Like I said earlier this week, my hope is to bring you a new page every day this week.

Then at the end...perhaps a small surprise???
So check back, tell me how I'm doing and hopefully,
come the end of this week, myself, my scrapbook room and my mini will have survived.

Thanks for taking the time.

Good Things Come In {Little} Albums

I am tackling my first mini album.
The subject? My niece, nephew(s) and a family friend's Summer Lemonade Stands.

{Flat Scan}
It all started a few years back... my sister, Season, and I wanted to get the kids out of the house... and, more importantly, out of our hair. A week into summer and we're hearing the 'I'm SO BORED, there's nothing to do' whine...I'm sure you know it. So we suggested that they open a lemonade stand.  Now there is something you should know about Sea & I (mainly 'I')...we, I mean I, tend to go a little overboard.  We couldn't just have a 'normal' lemonade stand, you know the kind were you buy frozen lemonade and sit the kids out front at a small table.  No, no, that just wouldn't do. We picked a date, made up a 'menu' of baked goods, bought and/or made some 'lemony' decorations and signs and baked (a lot). The day came, the sun shone, we made sure the kids looked ridiculously cute, sent them outside at 10am and hoped for the best.  They had line-ups, sold out of items, had 3 papers come to take their picture and brought in over $400 (after start up costs-not joking).  After that first year we started to let them have two- one in July and the other in August.  They get to split the profits from one and the other has to go to a charity of their choice.

{cover shots}
*measures 4.5"x8.5", cut from a file folder (Wal-Mart)
I am hoping to have the whole album completed by the end of this week- posting a new 'page' every day.
I hope you'll come back and take a peek!
