Day Four: An Echo Park Classroom

Yesterday we were busy bees.
Most of what we had done has now been put up...
and what we had not started, well, now we have.
{Word Wall}
Okay, I am not sure if I will explain this correctly, but here I go...
The Word Wall is to help the kids begin to recognize {spell, use correctly, etc} difficult words.
{*Note that the letters are NOT spaced at the same distance.  This is because some have more
words than others.}  The words will be added throughout the school year
{I placed some up on the board as an example}.

{Cafe Board}
I am not sure of all the ins and outs of the 'Cafe Board'...
The only thing I really know is that more is added to it throughout the year.

So today I am at home...but by the end of this week
we should be finished.  I guess we really have no choice considering
school starts on TUESDAY! Yikes.

Also, just one last picture.
This is one of the kids and all of the school supplies that they
bought for the United Way, with their lemonade money.
They filled 8 backpacks with all of the needed supplies {for different local schools},
as well as, two extra backpacks...and ALL SORTS of extra supplies!!
We are all VERY PROUD of them!

Thanks for stopping by,
Great Days!
Jazz.

Mondays Are For Mom

'First Day of School'
Nancy Parker {Ma}

Here is my card for this week.
"Back To School" is the theme for this week's challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil & this is my take on it.
I used one of Mo's sweet images & coloured it with Copics.
I stuck with primary colours for my paper choices.
The school themed embellishments are 3D which I adhered with glue.
A couple of brads & a bit of ribbon to finish it off.

Thanks for taking time to take a look.
Hope you enjoy your day,
'Ma'
{aka: Nancy Parker}
PS- This is Jazz...Just an update on where Season and I are on the classroom, things are going good.
The laminating we had ready to cut out is done and we are planning on putting up
bulletin boards today. {so hopefully I will be able to post some finished products for Tuesday}
Hope you'll stop in and check it out!
Also, the kid's Lemonade Stand went WONDERFULLY!!
They made $306 {plus TWO full back packs of supplies} for the
Local United Way's School Supply Drive.
We are very proud of them! Way to go Alanna, Madi, Caitlyn Braden & Zachie!

Day Three: An Echo Park Classroom

Well, if I was being completely honest, today is actually Day Four...
but I am blogging about Day Three.

It was LAMINATING DAY! {BIG} Sigh.
I HATE laminating day, it just means you have to
re-cut everything out again...by hand.
SOME of our {finished} laminating.

I started cutting while Season continued to work on the cricut.
Eventually, my hands started to get a bit achy, so I switched and concentrated on
getting a bulletin board {at least one} completed...which I did.

'Treasure Hunt' will be a collection of students' outstanding work,
school assignments that really shine throughout the week will
be mounted under the corresponding subject.
{Treasure Hunt- Laminated}
{Treasure Hunt - Mounted on Bulletin Board}
*Sorry for the horribly blurry picture...Ma, Could I borrow your camera?
{Treasure Hunt-  Close-Ups of Headings}
{Treasure Hunt- A blurry close-up of the Title}

After that was done, I decided to complete the name tags for the students desk.
Using Echo Park's 'Splash' Collection {of course}and the Cricut
Cartridge 'Life's A Beach', we cut out tags for every student.
Then I put their names on each one using the Alpha Stickers from 'Splash'.
{The Number is an organization thing for 'groups' and 'classroom jobs'}
{Couple of Close-Ups}
After that we went back to Sea's house and got back to cutting...
UGHH!
Most of it is done...and ready to put up.
I am excited to see everything come together.
Great Days,
Jasmine

{PS- Tomorrow is the kid's charity Lemonade Stand
{for the United Way's Back to School Supplies Drive},
so today we are taking a little time off from
school work and concentrating on Baking.
Wish us Luck!

Day Two: An Echo Park Classroom

Today we worked on the Math Wall.
First I worked on these Sand Dollars, they will be
used as 'Group Markers' {A,B,C & D}
I am not going to explain the whole board as, quite frankly, I wasn't paying
attention when Sea {my sister} was explaining it to me.
{Left, not lined; Right, lined}
Sand Dollars with their 'Group Markings'.
I have fallen in love with 'SPLASH' from Echo Park,
If you haven't already, I seriously suggest you check them out!

Next I moved on to the 'Activity Titles'.
'Math Lesson' {before}
All of the 'Math Activities' {finished}

We also made matching 'Charms' to let the kids
know who should be at which activity.
So if this is your 'Charm' you should be at "Math Facts".
{I am doing my best to explain it in words...it will all come together once
we have it up on the Bulletin Boards. Of course, I will post pictures!}
{A few more Charms with matching activities.}

The Cricut cartridge we are working with {Life's A Beach} is FANTASTIC!
Everything is really adorable...and I tend to be a hard sell, but it is really working out perfectly.

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope you'll tell us what you think and continue to
join us on our {little} journey!
Great Days,

Jasmine

An Echo Park Classroom

Well, we have been busy...
Every year, about this time, I help my Sister, Season,
get her classroom {grade 3-4} ready for a new school year!
This year Season and I decided to do a 'beach theme' throughout the class.
Over the next few days I will be posting about our {little} project.

Well on the hunt for ideas, Echo Park came out with a fantastic line called 'Splash'.
We made our purchase and immediately got started!

Using Cricut's Life's A Beach cartridge {above} we have began to cut out
the different themes for her bulletin boards, labels for desks and hooks,
as well as, the 'Welcome Board' in the hallway!
{our cricut...and the cartridge}

Today we accomplished a bit...mainly getting organized,
making any last minute purchase and then cutting.
{I'll admit, I always get nervous when making that first cut}
We have started with a bulletin board called 'Writer's Reef'.
Here are a few pictures of what we produced this afternoon:
{beach balls - just cut out}
{beach balls - outlined ...awaiting their consonants}
{Sand Pails- ready to be put together}
{Sand Pails - awaiting vowels}
{Sand Pails - finished}
We cut out the sand buckets, beach balls and letters.
We layered, attached and outlined {or inked with Tim Holtz- distress inks}
Hopefully tomorrow we will be finished this board completely...except for
the laminating, re-cutting and then putting them up.
Oh well, it will all be worth it in the end!

This will be an on-going project for probably the next two weeks...
I hope you will continue to stop by and check out the progress!

Mondays Are For Mom

'I Hope You Dance'
{Nancy Parker}
This first card is for the challenge at Meljen's Design - "Glitter, Sparkle, Shine".
I used glitter glue on the  stars & added gem swirls for my "Bling".
Both image & sentiment are from Meljen's. Paper is My Mind's Eye.
Inside I might put something like " on your birthday."

Now on to a special 'bonus card'...
'Thinking Of You'
{Nancy Parker}
 This second card is for the "Feeling Blue" challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil.
{You have to use the colour blue}
The image is Mo's, called "Need Mommy", and is so cute.
The sentiment was a digital freebie.
Papers are from my precious leftover paper box.
Stop by and take a look at these fantastic challenges.
There are some amazing pieces of work!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by,
Ma {Nancy Parker}

A {Little} Challenge

Oh how I try to make cards, more than you know...most
end up in the garbage, never sent...ripped up and glared at.
I am always so jealous of people who can make cards
 {for example; my Ma}...just turn 'em out, like it's no big deal.
So whenever My Mind's Eye posts their card challenge, I browse
through all the talented posts, huffing and puffing...
just wishing that I could join in.
So, this time, I decided to.  'Just go for it', I thought...
hoping maybe a hidden 'card talent' would emerge.
...It didn't,what can I say? I tried...very hard.

{Product Used:}
My Mind's Eye- Patterned Paper
My Mind's Eye- Patterned Paper

My Mind's Eye- Brad {Inside Paper Flower}

Unchanging Love

Together*Forever
{Jasmine Labombard}
The picture is of my wonderful niece and two crazy nephews,
it was taken behind the
buildings on the main street of our small town.
It is such an amazing place to take pictures,
{well, I should say it WAS such an amazing place,
the city knocked most of the buildings down},
full of graffiti, fire escapes and beautiful, old windows.
It made a beautiful backdrop...but they say change is a good thing.

Oh, the Thinks I Can Think

To try and snap me out of this maddening scrapping slump
I have decided to start a 'creative journal'.
I'm not sure if it will help, but here's hoping.

Entry#1
When I first started noticing 'creative journals', I thought, 'What a waste!'
...My opinion has since changed.
It is kinda liberating creating something for yourself- without pressure.
Who cares if you make a mistake, your ink didn't quite 'ink right',
or something doesn't quite go, this doesn't have to be perfect...
and trust me, for a person like me that concept is hard to grasp.

To make the pages I have used extra file folders I had lying around
and have attached them using plain, old binder rings.

My hope is that this will be an on-going project, one that I can
pick up when I just can't seem to scrap, a sort of jump-start to get
the creative juices flowing once more.

Thanks for looking,
Jasmine

Thank Goodness...

for My Mind's Eye.  If it wasn't for their fabulous monthly sketch,
I don't think I would be scrapping.
Here is my take on their {Anam Stubbington's} sketch #26.

'Pretty Little Girl'

I only used a couple of papers in this layout...
I wanted to keep it simple as to not take away from the {stunning} picture.
It's one of my favourites!  The Lost&Found, Union Square paper is my
ABSOLUTE favourite paper of, well I guess, last season.
My LSS, The Paper Pickle, carries it...and I tend to
buy a few sheets every time I go in.
{Which can be quite a bit}

 {Product Used:}
My Mind's Eye- Lost&Found, Union Square Paper {both sides}
My Mind's Eye- Bohemia 'Bella' Tag
Purple Cardstock- my ever-growing scrapbox

Great Days,
Jasmine

Mondays Are For Mom

'Back to School' - Nancy Parker
"Back To School" is the theme for this week's challenge over at Meljen's Designs. I thought this was a great theme since I am a school custodian and now back to work. Yep, no more vacation time for me until next summer. Anyway,  I chose Meljen's cute apple image & teacher sentiment, both freebies., for my card. I know this probably sounds pretty boring & repetitious but honestly all supplies are from my famous scrapbox ( yes, it's that big & yes, I've been scrapping for quite some time now so I have lots & lots of scraps! ). I did use a Sizzix embossing folder on the red cardstock - I love, love, love embossing folders, they transform plain old cardstock into something simply beautiful, come in many pretty designs, are fairly inexpensive & most fit into my faithful orginal red Sizzix. As usual Copics were used to colour with.

So I guess that's it for this week. Like I said pretty simple.

Blessings to everyone,
Love,Ma
